Hypnotic trigger
A hypnotic trigger is a cue — a word, a gesture, a context — coupled to a state or an action so that the cue can later call the coupling. It is the doorbell. The post-hypnotic suggestion is what is supposed to happen when someone rings it.

What it is not
It is not a remote control. A cue the person did not agree to, or cannot refuse, is not a trigger. It is leftover wire, and leftover wire is a safety problem.
It is not an anchor in the NLP trophy sense, though the pipes are cousins. In this house an anchor marks a state that already happened. A trigger is hired to call something later. The installation looks similar. The job is not.
It is not a personality rewrite. "When I snap, you become someone else" is fiction, or a consensual game that still needs an exit. Games belong in waking negotiation, not in a surprise.
How a clean trigger is built
Rare cue. Wanted result. Spoken bound. Test. Lift.
Rare: a phrase that does not occur in shops. Wanted: something they asked for awake. Bound: until the lift-word, only in this room, only with this person. Test: once, on purpose, later. Lift: name the end, then ring the bell with nothing behind it.

Fractionation sometimes gets sold as "trigger training." It isn't. Fractionation deepens. Triggers call. Do not confuse a deeper staircase with a doorbell.
Safety that is actually safety
No drop-triggers in traffic, at work, around children, in any room where a sudden trance is a hazard. No everyday words. No "from now on." No third parties as cues. No recording of a trigger the person has not agreed to have recorded.
If you cannot list what you set, you cannot take it down. Keep the list. Empty the list.
Between adults, triggers are a large part of hypnokink and erotic hypnosis. The charge is real. The hygiene is not optional because the charge is real. The heat stays in the books.
