Post-hypnotic suggestion
A post-hypnotic suggestion is a suggestion set in trance that is meant to fire later — on a cue, at a time, or in a situation — after emergence. The trance is not still running. The coupling is.
That delay is the whole point and the whole risk. Everything useful about the tool lives in the gap between setting and firing. So does everything sloppy.

What it is not
It is not a time bomb in the personality. A suggestion without a scope is not "powerful." It is unfinished. In this house a post-hypnotic suggestion that has no end — no word, no date, no place — is not used. The expiry is part of the suggestion, not a footnote.
It is not mind control. What the person would refuse awake, they will usually refuse later, or perform as a courtesy and resent. The useful ones are things the person already wants: a reminder, a door back into a known state, a small bodily yes they asked for.
It is not the same as a trigger, though the words get used as twins. A trigger is the cue. The post-hypnotic suggestion is the job the cue is hired to do. You can have one without the other. You should not.
How it is actually built
Three pieces, spoken in the same breath.
The cue. Rare, unambiguous, hard to fire by accident. Not "when you think of me." Not a word that occurs in traffic. A chosen phrase, a private gesture, a context that only exists in the room you both agreed on.
The action or state. Something the person wants. Small enough to complete. Not a trance drop in a car. Not a command that concerns a third person.
The bound. Until the lift-word. Until Friday. Only in this apartment. Only when both of you are there. Without that sentence there is no suggestion. There is leftover wire.
Then you test once, later, on purpose. Then, when the work is done, you fire the cue without delivering the state, after naming the end. That is how couplings die cleanly. The same two steps sit under aftercare.
Safety that is actually safety
No trance cues for situations that need full attention — driving, machinery, care of a child. No couplings to everyday noises. No "from now on" without an until. No content the person did not ask for in waking words.
If you cannot write down what you set, you cannot take it down. Keep the list. Lift the list at emergence, even if "nothing happened." The lifting is for the wiring, not for the story.
