Aftercare
Aftercare is what you do with the person after emergence — water, time, orientation, and the lifting of anything you set — so the session ends in the body, not just in the script. Emergence ends the trance. Aftercare looks after the one who just left it.
The practice is in the aftercare guide and, in German, Ausleitung und Aftercare. This page is the noun.
What it is not
It is not only a kink word, though hypnokink taught a lot of people to say it. Tattoo aftercare is ointment. Hypnosis aftercare is re-entry. Different object, same common sense: you do not send someone onto the street mid-change.
It is not therapy. If someone unravels into something you cannot sit with — panic that does not come down, a freeze that does not thaw, talk of harm — you are outside the craft. Orient, stay, get qualified help. Do not deepen. See safety.
It is not optional because "it was only a light one." Light sessions still borrow blood flow, time sense, and the social contract. Give them back.
What it actually contains
The landing. Sit. Water. Name the room. Do not leap to analysis of "what it meant." Meaning-making is a waking job and it can wait ten minutes.
The lift. Every trigger, every post-hypnotic suggestion, every hold you asked for — spoken off, then tested empty. If you did not keep a list, this is the moment you feel that mistake.
The watch for drop. Hypno drop looks like coming down off any intense attention: flat, shaky, unexpectedly sad, or sharp. It often arrives later, not in the chair. A check-in that evening is aftercare. So is not stacking three hard sessions in a day.
The ordinary. Food if they need it. A clear goodbye, not a fade into your phone. No driving until the legs and the eyes agree.
Drop is not depth
A rough landing does not mean the hypnosis was strong. It often means the exit was thin, or the person was already running on empty, or you fractionated past the point of courtesy. Fractionation without a full last ascent is a common author. Fix the exit. Do not boast about the crash.

FAQ
What is hypnosis aftercare? The re-entry: water, time, orientation, lifting what you set, and a watch for drop. Not the awakening itself — what follows it.
How long should aftercare last? Until the person is ordinary in the room. For a short session, ten quiet minutes. For a hard one, longer, plus a later message. The clock is the person, not the recipe.
What is hypno drop? A late slump after intense trance or intense attention — flat, shaky, tearful, raw. It is common enough to plan for and not a badge.
Is aftercare only for erotic or kink sessions? No. Any session that borrowed the body owes a landing. Kink just named the debt earlier.
